Ive been looking at three monitors the M-Audio BX8's, Behringer truths, and the Yamaha MSP5's. Ive only heard the BX8's...which were nice, and I was almost set on them, but I'd like to see what everyone here at RO has to say about these other two monitors.

I'm putting together my first system with simplicity in mind. The M-Audio PCI based Omni/Delta 66 really appealed to me because of the minimal additional equipment required to make basic recordings. That said, the M-Audio Firewire 410 also looks interesting. Aside from the flexibility of using the Firewire 410 with different computers, these products appear similar in many respects.

Ok…admittedly I am a rank recording beginner, and need some direction with a hardware / software compatibility issue. I play in a little local band and we do some home studio recording on a M-Audio Delta 1010 using Cool Edit Pro 2. This is great for the band but I want to have “noodling” capability and a song development tool in my house.

Has anyone used this?

I am looking for a second interface for my second computer (so I can kick out simple ideas when I am at home, away from my primary system)

I do not need it to be great quality, just acceptable.

both of these monitors are available 2nd hand near me for a good price.

The RRP new is pretty similar, but I can't listen to both beforehand to decide myself.

If any of you have input, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I heard of Behringer Truths, M-Audio BX8's - any suggestions as to what other good powered monitors are available in this price range.
