I have several songs which need mastering. I've never had anything mastered by a pro before and I don't have any relationships built yet. How do I find a place to have my music mastered?

Hey guys, Im going with my project to mastering next week, first time really mastering.

I dont reall know the engineer, and Ive never went to him before. Is it reasonable to ask him to listen to a mix this week? or is that something that you would already need a relationship with your ME for.

what equipment (mastering chain) would you recommend for a budget under 2,000.00. I currently have pro tools le, wave lab 4, Wavesdiamond. what other stuff would you recommend to get a pro sound for a budget under 2,000.00

I was wondering if any of the pros had any suggestions for me. I have just completed a project and I need to get it mastered. It's only a 27 minute CD with 8 songs (not a punk record). Anyway, I was wondering if any of the pros could work up a nice price for me.

Does software based mastering compare well to hardware based mastering with devices like the TC Electronic Finalizer or the Focusrite MixMaster or the Drawmer DC2476?

Does anyone own any of these hardware devices?

Hey everybody...Well here is my situation followed by my question. I have been doing mixes lately for much more professional artists than the run of the mill local kid garage bands I used to get. I produce mainly rock projects. Usually I used to just do the poor man's mastering cause the kids couldnt afford to pop down any more cash for a true mastering engineer.

Are these new DVD recorders that record CDRS suitable for CD mastering? Many will have 4X as the slowest speed and recently I found one with 8X as the slowest speed. THANKS for any help on this.

Does anyone in this forum do much work in terms of stem based mastering? Just looking for insight in terms of individual experiences and some pros and cons that have been realized as a result of that experience.
