Recording and Mastering Setup Questions...

Greetings,

I'm attempting to setup a recording/mastering studio at my church. We currently have a Yamaha 01v96 digital board running 32 tracks.

My thoughts were to purchase an Alesis HD24 to record the audio and then master the audio on a PC. My question is, is there a better way of doing this and if not, what all-purpose audio software would you recommend?

ready for mastering

ok, I've got all my final mixes ready to be burned on discs. What I need to know is...do I burn them as data files? they are 24 bit wave files. I know to burn them as Disc-at-Once. And what are ISRC codes...Do I need to write them down for the ME? (I read somewhere that I do). Also, I use Nero for burning my projects and am deciding to burn at 2x or 4x.

Mastering with Pro Tools

Ok, so here's the deal: I'm looking to start doing some mastering, and I'm a using a Digidesign 001. I plan on going Digital out of the 001 into a Crane Song HEDD, into a Manley Vari-mu, back into the Crane Song , and into the digital in of the 001. My question is this: Will this completely bypass any potential quality loss the 001 could add to the sound?

Mixing, Mastering

Those of you that do your recordings on your DAW, do you just mix on on it and then send it to someone to master? Or how do you produce a CD quality sound?

I have a few recordings, but they don't have a consistent volume level for playing back on different electronics. Also the levels are not high enough when doing playback in something like Winamp.

Any help?
