Does anybody know where I can find informatin on a beast called a Mastering Lab mic preamp ?

Hi Everybody,

I have to make a decision concerning DA converters. I have a mastering studio in the netherlands and started cutting vinyl 3 years ago and cutting production lacquers since january.

We just finished up a CD(compilation) and we mixed it all ourselves... Pro Tools LE, Digi 002, samplers, keyboards,etc... no live instruments @ all or anyting special, outboard.

can somebody give me a basic definition of MASTERING. thank u

I'm mastering an electronica/rock demo, and my choices are:

Drawmer DL241
dbx 166A
Digitech VCS-1

I've used the dbx and Digitech for vocal compression before, but never for mastering. I heard the Drawmer is the best, is that true?

I will also be running the audio through an SSL to get more warmth.

Hi guys.
Yesterday i did job with an acapella trio.
Now i did the mixdown, the mastering and then i did transfer it to Minidisc. The only matter is that i had to turn the volume to the top so i would be able to hear it enough.

About vinyl mastering, I got a few questions

Where to find the best vinyl mastering money can buy?
Will a good VINYL mastering made in the USA do for Europe or
does it need another (harder, lower, higher) sound?

Please only reply if you have actual experience with this

I do mostly acoustic music in my studio. I record a lot of serious players, and some newer artists. I get this because my studio is not open to the public.

I've heard numerous recordings done by people in their home studios, and yeah, they've sounded ok, but then they've sent them to get them professionally mastered, and the finished product is a world of difference.

Here's what I currently believe "mastering" is consisted of:

Im making a mixed tape, and I'm using other producers mastered beats..what I'm wondering is after recording the vocals and all the other sounds and what nots that I track later. should I compress of or eq the mixdown? It seems to me that this will effect the quality of the beat.
