Unobstrusive Choir Mic Stands?
Hello,
More and more I feel the need for close Micing Choirs with four microphones across the front. For this purpose, I am looking for an unobstrusive microphone stand. This will be mostly for concert situations, so it has to look neat and can not be too bulky.

Converting Light Stands to Mic Stands
Ben, you in particular I've seen mention that you use tall light stands for microphone stands. I want to do that as well--but not before I know how to adapt the 5/8" threads to 5/8"-27 (standard) microphone stand threads. How do you do it?

mic stand vibration dampening
I do not have a "real" studio.
My mic stands transmit(To my mics) vibration from other rooms, down the street, maybe the next town, I don't know? I remembered, from my astronomy research, something that is used for such vibration dampening on amateur telescope tripods.

Mic stands for standing singer or sitting speaker
Just getting started but trying not to waste any money.
I'm looking at K&M mic stands. Should I be going for a fixed or telescopic boom? Shorter stand and longer boom or the other way round?
I will generally be recording either a standing singer or a seated speaker.
The specifications of the models I'm considering are as follows:
sturdiest mic stand?
hi guys. i'm looking to get a bunch of mic stands that don't completely suck (like almost every mic stand i've ever used). i've had good luck with tama in the past, but is there much around that's a more...heavy duty? also, where's a good cheap place to buy stuff like stands, cables etc?
thanks!

Durable mic stands?
I am constantly buying mic stands. I buy the cheap ones...well because they are cheap. Their easy to replace, but they are also easy to break.
I'd like to stop and just have a nice set of good mic stands. Is there any particular brand/model out there that can stand up to some mild abuse?
