Location recording with a USB condenser microphone - help please?
First post - go easy on me please :)
I've just bought an iPad (woohoo!).
One of the main things I intend to use it for is on-location recording: found sounds for samples, and for spoken word interviews. I am a complete beginner at this - assume I know nothing and you'll be spot on. My background is in music production using Reason & Record, but I want to branch out.
Ribbon microphone preamps
I'm in the middle of ribbon microphone gas and doing my due diligence before purchase.
So I contacted Doug Fearn to see if he felt my VT1 would have enough juice for a passive ribbon mic - I did not ask about active ribbons.

Joemeek VC3Q power supply
Does anybody use/know of the Joemeek VC3Q? I have the op to buy one without the power supply...examination of back panel pics show that the unit is imprinted with "use only power supply provided" and "12v AC".

Microphone diagnostic question for those also having experience recording speech
I am going to be doing some mic testing shortly. I joked in another thread that it would only be on guitars, as there is not a mic in the world that could flatter my singing voice enough to tell if it was any good.
SE1000A microphone - opinions?
O.K., so my solicitations of mic opinions is growing exponentially, as even the casual observer might note, but in any event, what about the SE1000A? It comes in at under $200. This company is working in conjunction with Rupert Neve, and that is not a bad name to have on board.
So, any opinions on this mic, or this company's products overall?

Behringer Xenyx 502 Mixer + MXL 990 Condenser USB Microphone routing?
Yes... I am very much a noob at studio setups/equipment routing. I'd like to know what cables I need to start recording on my PC.
