Request for Mix Comments and some advice
Hey guys, so glad I found this site today. I was hoping some of you would give me your opinions on this recording I did recently for my band.
For me personally I was pretty happy with the results. Sounded good on the monitors, sounded good in the car, sounded good on headphones.

Newbie needing recording/mixing advice
I want to keep things simple - probably one of the reasons I play acoustic (guitar and mandolin). I want to be able to have a Fostex-like device that will allow me to experiment musically at home and accompany myself on one instrument, while I am playing back another previously laid down track. Simple enough.

Looking for advice in a vintage mixer re: outputs
Thought I'd throw this out there, maybe someone will know...
I'm looking at an old mixer that I want to buy, but the thing that's baffling me is the outputs:
1 left/right lo output
2 left/right hi outputs
entering the world of mixing! advice?
I plan on doing some recording, including vocals. So far, I have a GT-PRO and PODXT which I could record direct into my computer for bass and guitar, so that's solved.
I currently have a condenser mic that I borrowed from a friend that needs to be run on phantom power. AKG C4000B to be specific (it's all that he has)

Recording a beautiful handbell concert
Hi Folks,
Sunday night I recorded a beautiful handbell concert, and I'd like to share some of it with you. I can't bring myself to massacre this by making an MP3 file out of it, so the download is a little large. (All good things to those who wait... and it's a broadband world anyway.)
Two samples. For the faint of heart, here's a 1 minute sample (10 meg):

Mixing, cant see the forrest through the trees... advice?
Hey guys,
Heres the deal, ive been working on this project for about 4 or 5 months. Ive heard the songs thousands of times.
large mixer advice please
I am going to be recording many tracks of orchestras and bands (the type with clarinets) and I am wondering which 48 channel mixer is going to be the best. I have about 15k in the budget for it.
Looking for preamp/sound quality and overall quality and ease of use.

Any 2-track for mixdown? Advice needed...
I am considering buying a used 2-track for mixdown, instead of
the DAT or ITB that I do now. Will any reasonably well-maintained 2-track do the job (once aligned and cleaned, and perhaps relapped) of giving my mixes the warmth I need?
For instance, I see a lot of
Otari MX 5050 on Ebay. I could probably scratch together $1K
if I found the right machine.
