question about low latency monitoring and hooking up

Hi everyone, Im new to the forum.

my question is about low latency monitoring and how to hook up my rig.

I'm using logic 8, dual 2.7ghz g5 4.5 gb ram.

recording source in>dav bg1 pre-amp>(soon to be LynX l22, or similar) into logic 8 then lynx22>m-patch passive volume controls>monitors and headphones.

Gain Staging for Monitor Output

This is gain staging in reverse. I have an MBox2Pro which has a front panel volume control for the monitor output. I use unpowered speakers, so I have a monitor power amplifier with separate volume controls for each channel. The controls on the amp are really input attenuators. The amp is 100 watts a channel running into NS-10M speakers, which are rated at 60 watts, 120 peak.

Rerouting things right before the monitors.

Hello. Question. I currently have a MOTU 2408 going straight to my Alesis M1 actives. I have a DM-4800 as the front end to my DAW going digtally into the 2408 via 3 lightpipe cables. If I want to just fire up a keyboard and play it in my studio, I have to fire up everything, open a Cubase project, set a track to monitor, blah blah blah. A major pain and inspiration killer.

Question about Studio Monitors

I am lookin' at buying a studio bundle and in them comes the M-Audio BX5a 70 Watt Active Studio Monitors.

(Dead Link Removed)

I'd like to know if any of you have used these monitors or any of the other equipment in this package and what your thoughts were on them?

Is the package a good deal? Everything looks clean and sound and is definatley a step up from Cool Edit.

Philosophical question about near-field monitors

What justifies the high price of some small near-field monitors compared to others? For example, the Klein+Hummel 0110's vs the Dynaudio BM5A's. On paper, the specs look similar to each other and I've read rave reviews about both. But the K+H's cost twice as much as the Dynaudios. What is it about the K+H's that gives them their higher value? Thanks.

Ubernoob w/ questions about Mbox2/Tascam monitors

Hey everyone,

I just decided to start getting into recording, so I got a pair of Tascam VLX5's and an mBox2, but now I have a few questions.

- How do I add a sub to the Tascams?

- Can I use the mbox as a soundcard outside of Protools? I'd like to be able to say, watch a concert DVD and hear it through the moniters which are only hooked up to the mbox.

question about video monitors

I'm trying to decide on dual video monitors for my home studio. Does anyone have any advise? I found this one on Best Buy.com Here are the specs. The price is $399... pretty cheap considering other monitors of the same size. Just wondering if anyone can give me a little help.

Samsung SyncMaster 22" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Model: 225BW

Budget gear, yes, but a question about monitors.

I've just bought a pair of KRK RP8's. They're okay, but they seem to be less accurate than I would have hoped. Or, as someone put it, more difficult to learn and to get comfortable with than the other pair that I was looking at- Event TR8's. I'm thinking of dropping the $420 that it would take to get the TR8's, and depending on what I like, returning the other pair. Any advice on this?

Newbie...Getting feedback out of monitors

Hello, just got my first recording setup. My equip is a RODE NT1A, M-Audio DMP3, a Roland VS-880, M-audio powered monitors. The whole set up is in one room. I get a lot of feedback on both vocals and mic'd acoustic guitar. I am barely able to turn the gain up past 9am on the DMP3 and the same goes for the input sensitivity to the VS-880 channel.
