Mics for live recording of choir?
Hello all,
I am a member of a university choir in Sweden and also a member of the "recording group" of the choir. The recording group is going to buy new recording equipment to the choir and have finally almost made up its mind on what to buy. The only thing we are really unsure of are the mics.

Calculating Delay in Spot Microphones
Is there some formula to calculate the adjustment of delay necessary between the main pair and spot microphones, i.e. x milliseconds of delay for y distance?
I believe the other technique is to clap hands in front the spot microphone and use the wave editor to line up the spike between the mains and the spot. Is this correct?

Spacing and Panning Omni Main Pair
Having used ORTF cardioids as my main pair for a couple of years, I would like to try omni microphones in a spaced A-B pair configuration. I’m hoping to get a fuller sound. The chamber ensemble I record gives concerts where the size of the ensemble varies from piece to piece – from trios on up to baroque orchestras of a dozen or so musicians – all on the same concert.

Awesome recording gig
I just got a gig handed to me (not really "handed" - I'm under contract for it...) that is friggin cool. I can't really specify the artist/group's name, but I can tell you that it ISN'T the Mexican Brass...eh! ( I haven't read the details of the contract yet, so I don't know if I can state that I'm actuallyl recording them yet, otherwise, I would shout it from the rooftops.)

Spot Micing in an orchestra/ choir soloist situation
Joe H- I read your essay on 2 mic VS multimic recording and enjoyed it. A good explanation of how when when we have no visual and enviornmental cues to help us, the audio balances must be much more exact to provide a good musical experience.

Hi there.
I am tracking these two instruments, and am hopeing for some sugestions, as to mic choice and placement. Should I place them on a wooden floor?
They won't be tracked at the same time.
