I may order a pair to replace my TAPCO s-5's. I want my mixes to translate better. I currently have to remix and play on various systems many, many times to dial in acceptable mix. Room treatment is not an option at this time. The mids and highs turn out ok...the bass/low end is the main problem. Hopefully the 8 inch woofer will help. I do not want to use a sub. Anyone tried the Yamahas?

I know this a bit off topic, but I didn't know where else to post it. I have been looking at getting a new amp head for a while but I want some of your guys opinions because so far you guys have been a big help. I play metal mostly, and love the tube sound. The three that I have my eye on are

I'm in the process of researching purchasing a higher quality mixer for both FOH and monitor (one stop shop) than I've been using (Mackie 32.4) and wondered if I could get some comments from any of you with experience with the following brands/models. I am not currently mixing stereo IEMs, and usually only run 4 monitor mixes.

I have the opportunity to purchase a preamp and compressor that I will be using for mutiple tasks, but primarily for vocals.

The preamps I have to choose from are: Earthworks Lab 101, Drawmer 1961, HHB Classic 80, Avalon Vt 737sP, Manley VoxBox, Demeter VTMP 2B.

I read the specs, found it to be exactly what I am looking for. I need a preamp that is better than the one on my 828 MKII anyhow, and have been lusting after a hardware compressor for some time.

I was planning on buying a brick for use with a large diaphram condenser (like NT2A or something sim.), but someone has suggested that it would be better to fork out extra $$$ now and get something like the TL Audio 5021.

I just wanted to know what people thought of the unit? Is there something else in the price range that would be better?

I found that I liked the AT 4050 the most for vocals and that the VTB Pre sounds pretty bad, especially when the 'tube' is mixed in.

I'm looking to add a couple mics to my setup. Right now all I have is an AT4033. I'm mainly recording vocals and recording acoustic guitar. The Heil PR40 seems nice for the price but I've never heard one, any opinions? Also curious if anyone here as any tips for getting decent mics on a budget?
