Using an outboard pre w/ a console and interface

Okay, so I have a Behringer board I use before the interface. I use this so I can do some EQ on the board, level, and subgroup when necessary. I'd like to use some single channel and dual channel mic preamps but I'm not sure how to use it in conjunction w/ the board? Do I use an insert on the board to bypass the board's preamp?

Help with Routing outboard effects to digi002

Hi there, I am having probs with routing my out board fx to my 002.
I have a Soundtracs Topaz console 32 ch, urei compressors, roland tape machines, a fairchild reverb unit & a ANT w695b eq + a host of other
analog equip.
Want I want to do is use my original tracks and re record them in realtime using my effects as we produce dub style music.

Digi002/outboard compressor question

IF I want to add compression with an outboard compressor post tracking, do I *HAVE* to run the line out of digi002 to the compressor and back into a new track in Protools?

OR is there a way to insert the compressor into the signal chain of the pro tools track and bypass(or not) at will similar to plugins?

Thanks.

Outboard Gear

Forums

When mixing to two track or mastering on my outboard gear, should my meters be moving to -6 for mixes and 0 for mastering, my outboard meters seem to move slightly, just a little, when played through, does this mean that I'm not working the outboard gear enough, or the music going into the outboard gear is not loud enough to make the meters move?

Connecting outboard gear

I don't have a patchbayright now, and I was hoping someone could offer some suggestions on how to route my gear. I just got two new pre's, two compressors, and an ad/da converter. Should I connect the compressors to use them while tracking with the pre's, or route the ins and outs to the converter so I can use them as inserts while mixing?
