I'm now a happy owner of a pair of the Microtech Gefells M270, but I'm desperately dissappoited in my recording skills while using them.

Well, it was my first production when I was recording with omnis, but still I have my ears, but they let me down.

And today i was with Markus Wargh and try out some distance,
and space between microphones.

What is your opinion on this recording, it's a finnish psalm i think.

I typically place the mic one inch away from the grill and point it where the cone meets the center dome.

Whats your starting location with the 57 on a cab?

I just purchased a Logitek outboard LED meter -- 4 channel (as in two stereo metered pairs).

On one pair, I want to meter the outputs of a hardware synth or other analog source before my outboard mixer (which has no meter).
On the other remaining meter inputs, I want to meter the mixer's output. .before it reaches my DAW's soundcard.

QUESTIONS:

I am starting a new project and would like some suggestions. I am recording tracks that I plan on playing live at coffee houses, and want them to sound very similar (but not exactly) on CD as they will live. I also want the mixes to sound good in their own right, and have been unable to find any commercial examples of the setup I intend to use.

As I posted in a different post in this section I am doing a radio show and the star of that show is a 1928 Wurlitzer Pipe organ. The organ console sits in a hall and all the pipes are located in the basement. The sound arrives at the hall though grates in the floor of the hall (2.5 feet wide and about 20 feet long) .

Im currently looking for a good quiet pair of cans so i can expieriment with mic placement techniques(around drumsets and Amps).

My price range is preferably between 75-170. But if there is a jewel at 200 dollars ill splurge. I dont intend on spending over 200.

Where is the best places on the net to find sound samples for FL Loops 5.0? I am also trying to find some Roland TR-909 sound samples including Roland TR-909 bass drum...

Im new to the forum, and Im glad I found it. I have recrntly just gotten into recording audio, and I am in love with it. Right now I'm trying to soak up any info I can get before I try to go to school for Audio production.

Anyway, My band is gearing up to record a demo in my little home studio. The gear I'll be using is:

first question: delay and reverb are placed after the Preamp in your signal chain right?

mic/preamp/delay/reverb/soundcard is this right?

second question: where would a EQ be placed in this signal chain?
