hi, I do mostly classical recordings I use for the pourpose and ALESIS HD24 with an analog mixer, I am thinking to buy a very good 8 channel preamp with ADAT lightpipe out to feed Alesis HD 24.

I'm new to adding preamps. So it'd be nice to get help

first off I have a Digi 003 rack and a motif xs8,fantom g8, access virus ti2, and a microKorg .

I hook up all my keyboards to the line inputs of the 003 rack.

This is my very first port with you guys and after reading a lot of different postings from various enthusiasts followed by great advice from the forums experienced engineer types and moderators of the like, I feel the answer to my questions will come rather easily.

at the moment I'm using the preamps on my Allen and Heath Mixwizard 3 Mixing Desk for recording everything (drums,guitar, bass, vocals).

Im looking to buy a dedicated 2-channel pre-amp to record overheads, and guitar, bass and vocal overdubs

anyone have any comparative insights?

i'm familiar with the Onyx pre's and like them a lot. but what about PreSonus' XMAX preamps?

OK, I took the leap of faith and got a UA LA610. The reason I bought it is that it was half price- used- and I figure I can sell it if I don't see an improvement in my sound. Obviously I will see some improvement, but how much with just one component is a mystery. I record original tunes alone even though I am in a cover band, so one channel strip is enough for me.

i have been having trouble with a his in my recording i can get rid of it with a noise gate that i have but it takes back on the quality... i have been told preamps will get rid of the hiss. is that correct?

I have been using a EMU 0404 USB interface for awhile now but I recently bought a PreSonus Studio Channel which has a sweet preamp in it. I no longer really need the EMU because I don't like stacking preamps but I will still need the USB connectivity.

Can someone show me the way to just a simple USB interface I can come out of my PreSonus into then go into the computer?

Which would be a good Multi-Channel (2+) Mic preamp under $1000 for

Ive heard about the Octane, Octopre, Focusrite TwinTrack Pro. ANy advice.
Will be using it with AKG C214's, MXL2006, Shure SM81, 57, Beta52.
