Description

A preamplifier, also known as a preamp, is an electronic amplifier that converts a weak electrical signal into an output signal strong enough to be noise-tolerant and strong enough for further processing, or for sending to a power amplifier and a loudspeaker. Without this, the final signal would be noisy or distorted.

Housing/Power supply racks for 500 series preamps, etc.

500 series preamps are a pretty popular item for discussion around here. I thought I would start a thread on the racks that hold these units. I'm going to give it a go as a first shot and as new or better information comes in I will edit this first post to try and make a pretty comprehensive list of options.

should i or shouldn't i, sell three preamps to get 4/8 channel rack mount

I need to consolidate 3 preamps that aren't rack friendly. I have an api 512c, purple biz, and a groove tubes brick. I want to be able to replace those with a one or two space, 4 or 8 channel preamp. what do you recommend. I want to be able to have all my interfaces and sh*t in a 10u case for ease of portability between my three locations I record at.

BLA Auteur vs. Sytek MPX4 vs. DAV-BG-1 preamps

Hi guys,

Hesitant to ask yet another preamp question for those who are sick of them...

I'm not a gear junkie, but I don't want to be limited by my gear either. I'm looking at these preamps because I'm hearing/reading good things about them. And in fact, in the case of the Auteur by Black Lion Audio I've still never ever heard anything less than stellar about it.

Suggestions for a FOH vocal preamp

I've decided to start upgrading my touring rack a little bit and one of the things I'd like to add is a decent vocal preamp. I know people say you don't really need it, but it's an option I'd like to have.

What I would really like is it to be flexible. This means a decent EQ section, a decent compressor, bonus points for de-esser and of course road-worthyness.
