so i just got a firepod today and so far its frustrating.

Its running on my laptop with XP 256mb RAM blah blah blah

It was playing back like crap at first. then i finally got it playing clearly in Sonar by messing with the latency. Great huh? NO

Okay, i just recently moved to a different country for work-related resons, and I left my firepod manual with my Cubase serial No. back in the states. I've connected my firepod, and decided to try Audacity for recording my firepod, but I can't seem to record any more than two channels (1/2,3/4,5/6,7/8) at a time.

What's the general consensus?

I'm looking at the possibility of selling my firepod and getting a MOTU 896HD

What are the pre's like on the MOTU? better than the firepod?

The MOTU seems to have more/better features than the firepod.

The price is not a massive issue... but obviously i want to know that the extra £300 is going towards worthy improvement.

Okay I am somewhat of a noob. I've been recording on cool edit with my soundblaster for about 6 years now. Four years ago I made the mistake of buying a Lexicon core 2, which is one of the reasons I was so hesitant about jumping back into the world of digital recording. But the other day I decided enough was enough and took my hard earned money and bout a PreSonus firepod.

Does anyone know if I should experience latency when recording over previously recorded tracks using a firebox/firepod?

I have heard a lot of talk regarding this and I was wondering if
1)This is true?
2)If it is true, how to get around this problem.

I have an HP laptop with an athlon 4, 256 mb RAM, 1GHz.

My question is: With this setup will I be able to record with 7 or 8 tracks at the same time on the firepod? Id rather not spend the extra cash if I cant use all the tracks anyways.

Im pretty much a noob to the actual recording with this firepod, i have a few questions. I jsut got it the other day.

I was read somwhere that if I use the WDM drivers I can get a lower latency. Now there is 0 options for WDM in Cubase LE only asio. Why is this not available? What do you think about that? What software would have this option?

I'm thinking of picking one up ... will it stream each of the 8 pres in on seperate tracks or down to one? because I'm sick of trying to have it all right on the money when i record it and it be nice to be able to turn things up down later
never recorded with firewire before so any help would be appreciated
