Punch
Hi,
What tricks do you guys use to get the sound of instruments real punchy?
I use saturation ( plugins) and mixdown to tape recorder to get that effect more, for example.
Thanks.

Punch and fullness required...
Ok here's the song...

1. Compared to other songs, the volume is way too low.
2. It's lacking punch and fullness. Should I compress the hell out of each track and the final mix and throw it through sonic maximizer?

This is a copy of my response to a thread at the Rec Pit on [url=(dead link removed)[/url] -> Recording -> Mixerman. There is a lot of hot RADAR discussion over there. Thought you guys might be interested.

Patchbays -- Punchdown vs. . Neutrik Spring Loaded?
I'm looking for a good, solid, TT patchbay that's flexible (in that I'll probably want to reconfigure it every so often). My soldering skills suck. So, right now I'm considering getting either one of the Neutrik patchbays that have the "spring loaded push terminals with gas tight connections" or a punchdown-style patchbay. I don't have any experience with either.
When I try to punch in, audio stops for half a second
Well, maybe not exactly half a second, but perhaps a bit more or bit less...I am doing a quick thing at a friend's place and I have never used Logic. The soundcard is a Delta 44, I am not sure how it's setup driverwise...
Punchdown vs. . Solder
What are your opinions on Punchdown vs Solder in patchbays? Do you feel or hear a difference? Is it worth the time to solder?
I'm considering an Audio Accesories TT bay. I can choose between unwired, adc style punchdown, and wrapped terminal. The people there were very patient and friendly and their prices were fair.
