I am new to the DAW world but here is my problem. I have a Yamaha P120 and a 3ghz computer with 1.5Gigs of ram and an Emu 0404 soundcard.

Now this may sound strange or naive but let me know what I can do.

I'm looking for some clean, modern sounding, high quality drum samples for pop/urban type production.

Does anyone have any experience with ModernBeats.com? Any other big companies and alternatives you've found reliable in quality would be great as well.

Just bought an Alesis io2 for laptop use in a live playback situation. When I hooked it up to my computer and listened to a track or two I was amazed of the sound quality. My desktop computer is equipped with an (dear)old Yamaha SW1000xg pci card. I do all my stuff using it. Now, the Alesis gizmo sounds just awful.

A high quality effects processor to use when playing my bass guitar live. It would include EQ/delay/chorus/compression etc.

Hey, mastering guys and gals,
Some people says, that if I use for the mastering software equipment only, I don't need any expansive sound-card, because everything is doing in digital process. I mean that good soundcard is necessary for good monitoring of the mastered sound.

However, I finally have 'cracked' into the industry and am co-producing a band. However, I'm having trouble with one significant thing.

I was looking into getting passive monitors. I would need an amp for them. Does the quality of amp have any effect on the monitors?
