Classical music radio in Los Angeles takes a hit

Well, we are now down to 1 classical radio station. It was just annonced that KMZT is switching format to be a country station. This is really unfortunate as many of the local ensembles broadcast on this station. The other classical station is much more corporate in nature- the syndicate dj's to other stations and don't do many live broadcasts.

Radio EQ and Compression Standards for Mastering Purposes

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as far as the standards used in mastering for radio as far as eq and compression goes? I ask because I have some crappy songs lying around that I would like to experiment mastering techiniques on. Any and all responses woud be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Second Thoughts About Radio Recording

Recording is a busman’s holiday for me since my day job is working in the administration of an orchestra. To avoid conflicts of interest, I keep the two worlds separate. I don’t record my orchestra and I don’t tell the groups I record how to run their businesses. But it was all I could do to restrain myself last weekend. I thought the readers of this board might appreciate the story.

radio interferance is killing me!

here's whats going on. I'm getting a bit of radio interference in my recordings. i have a studio in my basement. brand new everything, decent mics, ok cables, run into a snake then into a Behringer eurodesk mixer, to a m-audio 1814 FW to my computer. My guess is it might be my mic cables, but i don't want to go dump hundreds of dollars on top of the line cables if it won't fix my problem.

Radio Broadcast-String Quartet and a last minute request

Yesterday I did a string quartet live broadcast/2 track recording for a classical radio station near here. I used a pair of AKG Blue Line Cardioid microphones in a coincident-pair arrangement. I placed the microphones about 8 feet in front of the quartet and about chest high. The recording and broadcast came off very well*.
