i am considering buying a matched pair of Neumann 18x microphones and i looking for opinions and/or recommendations on which set to get. i'm going to be using them for drum overheads, stereo program recording (live bands, concerts, stage productions) and for instrument recording like guitar, violin, woodwinds, perecussion, etc.

can anyone recommend either individual AD and DA converters that are of the big names (lynx, mytek, lucid, Lavry, genex, DAD, DCS, Prism, benchmark) that are of 192kHz and somewhat cheaper price range (not 3 grand a piece.) either that or mainly can someone tell me an A/D/A converter that is one of those brands and can do simultaneous A/D and D/A conversion?

Using a Delta 66 PCI card and OmniStudio I/O Box.

I'm thinking of getting an Audio-Technica AT4040 for voice-over recording (primarily male voices).

Is there anything of comparable quality at a lower price? I need to save wherever I can but make as few compromises as possible when it comes to quality.

Does anyone have any microphone/Preamps they would recommend?

Has anyone tried the M-Audio Luna - mic? Any comments?

Product availability in Canada is also a must! (I'm sure all major brands are available here...but I'm not really sure).

After years of running my AKG C414 direct into a board in my home studio, I have decided that I need to step up and buy a tube mic preamp. Problem is, I have absolutely no idea where to start. There are a lot on the market and I don't have enough time to read recording magazine reviews every month, so I'm hoping for some guidance.

Can someone give me some suggestions as to the best sounding Bluegrass albums?

I have a client that is really hung up on Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs sound and I want to educate his pallet a bit more.
