stand height and stand recommendations
this is something I am unclear of...what is a good rule of thumb in terms of how high to raise the mics up.?I have some bogen stands that are 13ft, but have no idea if that is adequate..(I do mainly symphonies and choirs) I see a lot of pictures with mics elevated WAAAAAY above the orchestra. this is one area I am ignorant in. also..I want to get a couple more stands...recommendations?

Recommendations for first pro channel strip.
Hi folks,
I would like to get my first pro channel strip that has mic preamp, comp, EQ and etc...I am considering Sebatron Thorax, or to save some cash, a Focusrite Voice Master Pro. I'm using it mainly for demo making and small projects. I am open to other options as long as it is a quality gear.

AT2020... now I need some Audio Interface Recommendations
Hey guys, first post :)
I need some help choosing a CHEAP audio interface.
Basically so far I am getting an AT2020 to record Acoustic and then Vocals (this is all that I'll be recording).
I have about another AU$150 (about US$115) to spend on a cheap interface.. Are there any worth the money around this amount or should I hold off?
Midrange Overlooked? (classical monitor recommendations)
I've spent many hours and days reading studio monitor reviews. Perhaps it's because I'm looking for a 5"/1" setup, but every review focuses on the bass response.
I am hoping that some engineers with a classical recording background could help me decide which sub-$500/pr active monitors will have the best midrange.
Hard Drive Recommendations
Hi,
If you were building a new DAW today what 7200 RPM Hard Drives would you recommend for performance and reliabilty that are semi-quiet?
I’m going to need the following:
1 PATA for OS and Software (80GB)
1 SATA for Samples (160GB Mostly for Drum Samples like BFD)

Drums Sample CD recommendation
I'm looking for some good drum sample CDs, preferably stored in .wav file formats. I saw the Ross Garfield Drums 1 and 2 (Drum Doctors, I think) sample discs mentioned a long long time ago but I can't find the post and the search function is pretty much useless (no offense.) Mixerman might have mentioned the Bob Clearmountain...that was a long time ago too.

Crossover recommendations
I'm thinking of building some main monitors to replace my Tannoy DMT 15 MkII's. I've looked into ATC's P4 monoblock amplifier and crossover but it weighs in at £4500 (roughly $8100) and of course I'd need 2 so I've been thinking of a cheaper solution using some of the kit I have already.
