recording a bass amp
Forums
I am doing a song and want to record my bass amp. I have a carvin stack with a 15 and 2-10 inch speakers. I tried to just run the bass direct into my isa 428 with a rnc off of the side chain. I did not like the way it sounded. No punch. I am going to try a D112 on the 15" and sm57 on the 10"s. I don't have a DI box so I want to capture the sound of my rig.

Recording 22" BAssdrum
Forums
Hello,
I'm recording drums here.
My 20" kick sounds way better then 22" (same model, wood)
22 has got a lot of low end, a bit boomy...
I use AUDIX D6.
I hear about using 2mics as it is such a big drum...
would D4 be a good 2nd one?
I've tried Micing just outside, pointing to beater, middle.

Recording Bass - Micing or Direct Input
Forums
I read somewhere that recording directly into the mixer is better and more useful than Micing instruments. So, with that in mind, I tried a direct recording of a bass line onto my DAW which is Sonar 2.2 and I wasn't very impressed with the amount of detail it picked up. For instance, all the little clicks and pops from the strings hitting the frets and pickups.

Recording guitar and bass
Forums
I have been reading up quite a lot about recording and mixing. Why do you have to mic the guitar or bass amp? Why cant you just feed it directly into the mixer?
Thanks :)
