Studio Projects C4 for rock vocals over C1...

Forums

I just got a pair of the Studio Projects C4's and to me, using one C4 on my voice sounds so much better than my C1. I sing hard rock, and the C1 was sounding too "tinny" on the high end and thin bodied. Granted, I'm only using a GT brick preamp into an MBox, but swapping to a C4 makes a hell of a difference.

Micing drums for a rock band in my studio for the 1st time

I own a small semi private studio in which i've done a lot of & gotten pretty good with recording & engineering vocals, electronic/digital gear and Guitars. However i have been asked by a friend to consider recording a project with a rock band using all real instruments and have no experience at all with Micing drums. I have listed my euipment below..

SX3 effects... ready to rock, or just getting started?

Happy festive holliday season everyone!

So I'm making the step to Cubase SX3, and I couldn't be happier. I just need to know, how do the included effects etc.. stack up? I noticed that the EQ is integrated in the channel.. convenient, but I also read that the quality leaves a bit to be desired, and doesn't match the standards that Nuendo sets forth.

Rockabilly bass

I've been drafted to record a rockabilly band next month, but I've never recorded a live upright acoustic bass before. I've been shooting ideas around in my head, but haven't figured a good way to mic it. I want to run it in thirds (mic left panned hard left, mic right panned hard right, mic centered perfect stereo) but not sure what mics to use.

Rock Vocal - Compression

Forums

hey, i'm working with a band with a sound similar to that of story of the year or matchbook romance, and i'm reviewing those band's records to get some ideas and what not. listening to story of the year's "page avenue" i'm hearing a ton of compression on the vocals, but it adds kind of a cool effect in some parts. ive tried messing around with some ideas, but can't quite identify it.
