(PROTOOLS HD SYSTEM)

Kurt, You Rock Buddy! JLM Pre's

I did a bit of poking around today after your preamp suggestions and I managed to get onto the Guys at JLM. They are only about 20 mins away! I am going down there next week to check out the tmp-8 and some other gear. I told them that you put me onto it and I think Joe is kinda keen to get some feedback from overseas engineers.

How to get Rock drum & bass sound?

Ok,
I try to record and mix and I basically suck at it.
it must be some magic formula.

example - nivana nevermind or soundgarden -
how do they get that big punchey in your face snare and kick sound?

are they eqing the hell out of it?
i thought eq was a no no - you're suppose to get the suond up front to avoid phase problems.

Sound replacment on major rock records?

So are most of the drummers for these bands EXTREMELY accurate and consistant or is it common practice to add kick and snare samples? ( i know terry date does) Where do you normally find good samples and how do use them? Generally when you use a sample do you not rely on the original at all or do you pick something that will compliment what you have and lay it under the original.
