best "cheap" mastering for loud indie rock album
hi folks, sorry if this has been discussed to death, as i'm sure it has. just looking for some quick and informed opinions. .
been looking at Alan Douches at West West Side, i know he comes highly regarded. any thoughts on Treelady? I've used Sterling After Hours, they were great, but I'm looking to get in @ 600-$1000.
Bass Amp For Recording Rock - Zep Sound
I'm trying to get a nice sounding bass sound that emulates the
early Zep stuff. Looks like he used an acoustic 360. Any idea if there is a way to get that sound with some pedals or some of the new type of amps?
Thanks.
Mark

Recording a Rock Choir?
I want to record a choir for a song I've put together. It's the choir is in the background in some of it. How to I record them? I can't have the song playing through speakers because of the bleed, and I can't afford to have headphones for every choirmember. Please give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it.

Jazz & rock drum tunings
Hey guys can you please let me know what the different tunings are for drums (typically) is.
Like for instance, I know a drummer who learned to play in band back in high school. His teacher taught them how to tune to a jazz kit set-up. But now adays he plays mostly metal, and he still uses the same drum tuning he has asways used.

Recording Commercial PunkRock songs
Hi,
I'm looking to create a sound like Greenday,NOFX,Blink182,...
I know these 3 are like apples and lemons but what I mean is :
The broad full fat guitars.
The Jummy Kickdrum.
The Juicy Snare.
The dirty ampeg-style sounding bass etc...etc...

Recording Rock Guitar Guide
For no reason at all, I decided to put together a guide for beginners for recording rock guitar. I'm not expert but I've been doing the studio thing full time for 4 years learning on my own. I've never really found an extensive guide on the subject so I just started typing.
I hope you can find some use for it.

sm7 for rock vocals, NE experience?
This came up on another of my posts and so I was curious if anyone had used this mic for rock vocals. Like I said in another post I read somewhere that Rick Rubin used this on some of the System of a Down vocal tracks.

RMS levels on current rock CDs?
I am boosting the RMS on my tracks recorded last fall. I put them into soundforge 8 and they were around -22. I boosted them to -12 and that seemed fine. If current CDs are around -6 I don't care cause I'm not gonna squash the life out of these songs. Just wondering what a normal RMS ussually is for rock.
