Is it better to change my monitors or Fixed my room
Hi, I have my own small studio (PT24 5.1/88824/) and where I live it's a excellent option because of the price range and the advantages it gave me over other studios in the area.
Right now i'm doing SORT of Mastering, i mean I'm not a mastering engineer but here there are no options around so I took the advantage and I'm almost the only option around.
recording jazz trio in "live" room
I will be recording a friend at school who has a jazz trio (piano, drums, bass) in our preformance hass, which is a rather "live", but good sounding room.
The equiptment I will have access to is as follows:

Room acoustics products / advice
I have the opportunity to move my studio equipment out of a small basement room into a "dedicated" second floor room in our oast house - if you don't know what one looks like, here's a link to a picture of a similar house!

luck with drums in small rooms?
Anyone have any sort of luck? I've read Julian's posts on other boards about the distressed mic outside the door. How big is your room and is it really dead? Is a somewhat triangular shaped room really bad? I'm just trying to get some sort of ideas, I'm sick of just having one big room for everything.

Room air conditioner in my "studio"
Thoughts please. I have a small "studio" that I am building up in my garage (yes, I am one of those). The only method of heating and cooling is via a window unit mounted to the outside wall and not in a window. I have thought that I could build a wall between the air cond. wall and my proposed control room.

Which HDR for Client "Bedroom" collaborations
Lately clients have been asking me for recommendations as to which of the current crop of hardware hard disk recorders they should buy. Their goal is to be able to take mixes of rhythm tracks, etc. that they do in my studio back to their "bedroom" so that they can add some overdubs at their leisure, without the pressure of my clock running.
room tuning, mix translation, and low mids
so i'm mixing this record. but i'm mixing in a concrete basement, which is big, high ceilings [uneven wood, 9 ft], and my mix area is about 15ft cube, with the back "wall" of the cube actually going out 25 ft at least, irregularly [bookshelves, different depths, stairs, etc].
