2 Stereo mic techniques - Can you hear the difference?
Hi
I recorded some music with an organist (& myself on trumpet) in a church recently and I thought it would be interesting to use 2 different stereo mic techniques to see how they differ and which sound I prefer.
Narrowing the stereo field of the low end?
I understand that narrowing the low end is often done when mastering for vinyl, but is this ever used when mastering for CD?
Is it desirable to go mono with frequencies below, say 200hz?
Thanks,
Mark

Easy question: Stereo tracks through console
This will certainly be an easy question. We are going to buy a Soundcraft Ghost 24 which we will be using with Sonar 4. We will also be buying a MOTU 24i/o. But having never worked on an analog desk before now, how do the ins and out work? If I have for example 8 drum tracks in mono, they would go through any of the inputs (1-8 for example). But what do we do with stereo tracks?

Narowing the Stereo image
I am currently mastering a duo -acoustic guitar and violin- of modern argentine music. The mix sounds great, but I need to slightly narrow the stereo image as the instruments are spread too much apart (left-right). Hopefully adding some reverb is part of the mastering process (the mix is almost dry) and could be used as an ingredient in my quest.

Stereo Live Jazz recording - MS or XY?
Hi folks, sorry for the long post - I'm seeking some specific advice from more experienced engineers which I haven't been able to find so far in these forums.
I am a musician who currently does a lot of home recording and mixing but am looking to get into location recording of small group jazz gigs (mainly in clubs).

Main Vocals... Stereo or Mono? URGENT HELP NEEDED! THANKS :)
Hey guys, noobie here...and noobie question for you.
Should main vocals be stereo or mono in a mix? My voice sounds so much better when it is in stereo...especially with headphones. but when I play the song on speakers, my voice sounds a little hollow. What do you guys suggest?
Is it a problem with my reverb or do I have to make it mono?
stereo linking guitar amps
I have two different amp heads and boxes and was wondering if I could use my boss chorus pedal which has a stereo output to link them. Does this mean (provided that there is no spill ie each amp in its own soundproofed room) I could record from the two amps simultaneously? I was thinking it would be cool if i used two mics on each box and got 4 guitar sounds to choose from or blend.
