DIY de-esser (using stereo compressor)?
Greetings,
From my limited knowledge I understand that a de-esser is essentialy a compressor that limits certain frequencies of sibilance.
I also understand that an actual de-esser would be rather expensive due to its special function.

How do you really do stereo mic placement in the field?
So I've been reading about variations on ORTF stereo mic techniques and all of the spacing and angle measurements. I've played around with them in the studio and measured with a ruler and protractor. But when I've used them in the field, I've just eyeballed them. Seems to me the only real drawback of this is that it might no be as consistent. What do you do?

Stereo vs. . Mono when recording rap vocals
Hi there,
I would like to know whether there's any difference between recording rap vocals in a stereo track versus recording it in a mono track. I record my rap vocals in mono tracks for no particular reason. Should i be doing it stereo?

How do I send out a signal, other then using main stereo mix
I have lots of outboard gear that I would like to utilize with my DAW.
My question: Is it possible to send an audio signal out of my DAW, into an outboard effect and then back into my DAW? (not using my DAWs main out stereo mix.)
I can think of a couple of ways this could be possible, but is it available now?
