Do you want to help me build up a studio? (I wanna steal your thougth!)

Rigth now i am thinking of building up a guitar rack, but i dont have a clue what to get, i currently have a pod xt live but it sounds like crap. should I run the rack system through the amp and then record with a mic or is the rack system just DI?

I own a small semi private studio in which i've done a lot of & gotten pretty good with recording & engineering vocals, electronic/digital gear and Guitars. However i have been asked by a friend to consider recording a project with a rock band using all real instruments and have no experience at all with Micing drums. I have listed my euipment below..

Hello everyone. I am in the market for a CD player for my rack. I am currently using my computer to listen to CD's and it is not working out. Reason being because all the noise that my CD drive makes while playing back a CD is very distracting and is unacceptable (I use a Powerbook so the additional noise I’m hearing is essentially under my monitors).

just looking for suggestions for a good quality and good sounding mic for all around home studio recording. Have been checking out large diaphragm condensers/ some tubes. Vocals is my number 1 priority. Also some acoustic guitar. Style of music is hip hop/rnb (not sure if that'll make a difference). Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
