Anyone feel like comparing the sound of the 2? Just sold my Focusrite Octopre to fund a new RME fireface and Samplitude software. But now I need some pres. I was thinking of grabbing the Sytek 4 channel pre w/ the Burr brown option.

Sytek has 2 flavors of pre, 4 total.

Studio Projects, 8 pre's. All Burr brown.

Hey ppl.

I've got a pair of Peavey HKS-8 Studio Monitors. I've had them for quite a while but really only used them in the last month. Currently I've got them running off the main out on a Behringer EURORACK UB1202. I use them mainly for playback for editing, voice overs and guitar recording. So far they have been great.

I am currently operating on Windows XP Home; AMD Athlon XP 2200 1.8G Processor 512M Ram and currently have a crappy Aureal Vortex 1500.

I am recording with Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 XL. Mainly recording pop and dance music.

I want to upgrade to a midrange pro audio sound card and most likely the processor too.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Well ok. I dont want to go much past the 500 dollar range. I want to be able to record into my Latop for live shows or home use, and use the same system in my studio on my larger computer to record bands. So I require either USB or Firewire interface. I dont want to get a system that requires a proprietary pcmcia or pci card, becuase I want to be able to hook it up to anything.

Hey, I'm looking into picking up a condenser mic for recording vocals and acoustic guitar. I'm thinking the cheaper the better, but if there is a big difference between two models for a relatively small difference in price then I'll consider shelling out a bit of extra cash. The two models I have been looking at lately have been the Apex 435 and the Studio Projects B1.

I'm looking to get a home studio going, here is want I'm looking to get, let me know what you think and if there is anything I should do different. Its for mainly rock bands and acoustic stuff, I want at least 8 pres for Micing drums.

I was looking at going with the Behringer ADA8000 but heard the Yamaha mixer would be a better choice. Anything else I should look into?
