Sound Card trouble

I think i broke my soundcard(the one that comes built in the PC). I plugged my guitar into my amp and from the headphone jack of the amp into the PC. I didn't think it would inflict permanent damage but it did. I take this as an oportunity to upgrade my sound card because now mine is hissing alot. Anybody know of a sound card with an XLR jack for a mic and(obviously) an output?

Beter soundcard with 8 pre and 16 ch ADAT?

I want to buy an interface with 8 Mic preamps, which might have a good quality and offer 16 ch Adat, cause i want to make 24 track live recording and use in my studio too.

The options I have in the market are Focusrite Saffire Pro, The PreSonus Firestudio and the Alesis IO26? Is there any other better option? which one is better?

Thanks :)

Is a good soundcard needed for recording vocals?

Hey Guys and Girls!

Just wanted to know if it is worth investing in a new soundcard to record vocals. Im currently using Nuendo with a crappy soundcard at the moment. For me, the quality is fine, but will it improve if i got a new one?

And if so, should i get a firewire card? I'm looking to spend $250..

thanks!

Rob

Need a good soundcard

Hello
I Need to get a better soundcard for my studiorecording. So far I have used a simple realtec card, but I have experienced lots of this background noice, as the one you hear from your speakers when you turn the volume to max.
So could anyone suggest me a good soundcard?
It should have the best quality avaible, with midi, surround and all those things...

Using external converters w/S/PDIF or aes/ebu to soundcard

Hi all!

I'm sorta a noobie to digital recording, and I need some advice on some new equipment. I'm going to expand my analog studio to digital. Now I'm wondering what I need to look for when purchasing some sort of soundcard. I'd like to use Pro Tools (does it matter if it's LE or M-powered?), but I have Logic Pro for now.
