What Soundcard/interface to go with?
I have a Toshiba 5005/504 pc/laptop w/ 1.1 gig, 512 ram. I'm planning on using it to master bands I record at my studio, and use the Wavelab 4.0 live monitoring for freq. analysis. (Coming out of my d8b's S/PDIF or AES) What soundcard/interface would you recommend? I'll need digital I/O and good a/d d/a's.

SoundCard DREAMS and reality
Used that catch title to get you in here. Here's the deal- Going with a P4 northwood deal (the Opus deal). Was thinking of using MAudio card- Audiophile, but want MORE INPUTS, so Delta44. But after reading in here more and more, I am undecided.
SO ANYONE, please answer 2 questions (I am a home studio user for...fun for now, but want to be on the radio! :D )

Soundcards- I'm so undecided!
About me:
I'm a guitarist that is tired of gigging. I've never recorded a thing in my life except for some live demos. I'm ready to start making music for me.
So I'm rebuilding my computer to do some recording at home. It will be Asus P4B266-C/P4 1.6A.

Best soundcard for winXP (EWX 24/96 - Audiophile 24/96)?
I currently have a soundblaster live in my windows XP system. However, i'm
looking to get into computer sampling/recording and want to get a GSIF
compatible card.
The two i'm looking at are the Terratec EWX 24/96 and Midiman Audiophile
2496 as both are around £160-180 and seem to have the hardware support i'm
looking for.
Do I need a new sound card?
Hi guys
I'm not particulary new to PC audio stuff, though I am new to this forum, and you lot seem to know your stuff! I've just got a quick - and hopefully simple - question. I've recently upgraded my PC to what should be pretty f***ing fast:

new mic preamp or new soundcard--what will make a bigger di
I've got an unexpected couple hundred bucks to spend on a new piece of gear. I can't decide--Joemeek MC3Q (mic preamp, compressor, eq) or Midiman audiophile 24/96 (soundcard).
Here's what I've already got:
Soundcard Recommendations anyone?
Yup. I need some - under £300 (bout $350 USD) if possible.
At the moment I'm on a stoneage card - Soundblaster PCI64 and i have latency probs all the time in Logic and Cubase (strangely enough its ok in reason)
So, post 'em here, wiv links please! :D

hum/noise from soundcard
I am going out of my mind! Can anyone help me out here?
I'm recording into a PC using a SoundBlaster Audigy card which is SUPPOSED to have a SNR of
-100db. (Yeah, RIGHT.) However, there is about -60db of noise. It's ridiculous. Even if I have nothing going into the soundcard's line in... Noise! White, pink and brown... It's all there. Along with a hearty dose of 60 cycle.
