Well here I am again... the rest of my DAW parts
is coming in a few days. I've spent most of my money on the computor and the software so I really
can't spend too much money on the soundcard right now.
So I need some advice here:

I need to buy a sound card with "pro" capabilities.
I need to choice between these:

M-audio Omni Studio
or
C-port DSP 2000

Or another under $450, with preamps.
Any opinion is welcomed.

Can someone explain the advantages and disadvantages of USB vs PCI sound cards, such as quality, speed latency, noise or anything else? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to record 16-24 tracks of audio in the PC without using a mixer and external preamps. Please recommend a souncard having its own preamps?

After installing XP Professional on his PC, a friend hasn`t been able to get any sound out of his audiocard. A error code 10 comes up, seems like XP won`t accept the driver. Has tried to download and install newest driver from midiman without any sucess.

Anyone experienced this?

Ok, I have a friend who will be building his system shortly. Any suggestions for a soundcard in that $600-$800 range? I have a SB Audigy Platinum, and after using it for a while, we have come to the conclusion that we need more I/O's. Any input toward a solution would be killer.

I have a small system that i set up in my basement, I have a Mackie 24x8, a fostex D-108 multitracker, i'm sick of having to put everything on zips and CDs to bring the tracks into Pro-Tools to mix. Is there a sound card that not incredibly expensive that would allow me to import the tracks via the ADAT outs or the SCSI or S/PDIF outs on the fostex. I was looking at a Korg DRS 1212 card.

I've been searching all over for info on soundcards... Specifically, reviews an/or comparisons of cards like the pulsarII.
First off, I am using a Tascam us-428 for sound and control surface. Ever since I've had it though I have had no stability. Just about any sound that comes through it is riddled with pops and drop outs.

I'm considering going to the G4 processer and the MOTU DP v 3.0... I'm a guitar player/song writer and I don't have a lot of space to deal with for rack mounts etc. I'm looking for a plug and play environment for MIDI sequencing, live instruments and vocals... Am I on the right track? Any suggestions? Thanks... LBM

I'm trying to record digitally to my DAT machine a Sony 670 from my mac computer using a Delta 1010 card via the S/PDIF coaxil connection.The only way i've got it to work so far is using 48Khz sample rate,but my material is all recorded at 44.1Khz.The DAT machine is able to record at 44.1Khz(according to the manual),but i can't get it to work at that sample rate.
