delta soundcards?

was in guitar center today. drooling
they had delta 44, 1010, 410. the 44 comes with a breakout box with mic preamp's (not going to Micing much) for 400 clams.
just wondering if anyone likes, heard, or knows much about them. i think 400 is my limit for a soundcard (not much but workable).
or is there something else to look at?

desperately seeking advice (soundcards, etc.)

Hi everyone - this site is so informative I had to register (an escapee from Harmony Central). I have some basic concerns about home recording. I have a P3, 20 gig hard drive, 128 mb, and I have been using Sonar, for recording guitars (nylon string and electric), keyboards, bass, midi drums and acid loops. I have some latency on some tunes, and I need to upgrade.

why should i buy an expensive soundcard?

i've recently been researching the ins and outs of home recording as it looks like i'm taking over the role of 'engineer' for my little band in a box (read people that show up in my basement to play).

there are a lot of threads on pc hardware, which do me no good because i've been working in computer hardware for 10 years now. that part is safe.

Sound Card Monitoring and the Digi001

Any ideas as to why I would not be able to monitor on my sound card in Pro Tools? I just set up a Digi001 this last weekend. Everything works fine, except that I can't monitor or audition tracks through my sound card. The only way I can do this is through the headphone jack on the front of the Digi. I'm going to assume that all of the outputs on the back work.
