I've got an 8 track 1/2" reel to reel, and I've noticed that when I record, even if I'm recording nothing, I get static once and a while. Does anyone have this same problem, or know what to do to fix it? Thanks!

Hi guys. Dealing with an annoying problem where intermittently I will get static pops in my speakers. Here is my setup.

i have had several hard drives suddenly fail on me in the last month.

i have tried to restore the drives but don't know how.

i have tried using recovery software to get at my lost files. its works and i can get my project files and the .wav files.

the problem is that the wav files are corrupt and have static through out.

where do you attach them? I have read to attach them to the pc case (unpainted), but You are also supposed to unplug the psu when working on the pc. This would eliminate the ground rendering the strap useless right?

when i try to record vocals on this mic i have i get static and i was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to reduce it some what there is some hiss but mostly pops

My headphones are connected to a Samson headphone amp. The headphones can pick up static easily and it goes right into the AD of my RME multiface! The headphone amp is hooked through the output of the multiface. Any corrections to this? New headphone amp. I noticed this headphone amp does not have a ground.
Any help is appreciated. THANKS.

I shocked the f' out of myself about a half hour ago while putting on some vinyls. I don't want to blow my new mixer that I just got up.

Hello. I just completed a small studio and I'm having a problem with static on all my circuits. The static comes from all my components on all circuits (bass amp, PA, stereo receiver etc). The circuits are coming off from a subpanel that I installed to feed my studio. The static actually goes away after a few minutes. Do I have a ground loop problem here or something else going on?
