Stereo overheads and stereo rooms
Any one using stereo overheads and stereo room mics? If so what mics and patterns are you using? And what are you doing to combat phase and delay issues?

MS stereo recording and ms matrix decoding.
I am planning to buy a Sennheiser MKH 418S shotgun mic which records MS stereo. I am planning on using the mic with my Tascam DA-P1 DAT recorder which only has L/R XLR input and I read somewhere that in MS stereo records M signal to the L channel and the S signal on 2 other channels and later combine in post production to create the stereo sound file.

stereo guitar recording
if you are recording an acoustic using one mic, is it best to record it on two tracks and then pan one left the other right for a stereo effect, or will it sound all right on only one track? also would you record electrics on 2 tracks as well, or just do 2 guitars, one panned left, one panned right?

Stereo spread
Hi guy's I was just wondering how often you use a stereo spreader to open up a mix or close up one which is too wide? Can you please name any hardware which is good for this or software,I tried the Wavess1 and it was quite pleasing (at only 10% wider,I used it sparingly),can you please recommend better ones for me to try. Also are speaders likely to screw things up even if used sparingly,I'm quit

Stereo Limiter/Compressor for master buss and stereo input
I've heard a lot of different limiters used on the master (Manley being my favorite) but I'd like to know if anyone here is using that same limiter or compressor on let's say drum OH's. This does not by any means have to be a Manley, and under $2500 would be preferable.
-Thanks

Acoustic Guitar, Stereo or Mono?
Since an acoustic guitar is a single sound source, does recording in stereo sound realistic? I was doing an A/B with my song recorded with 2 mics, and the acoustic version of Dave Matthews' "Gravedigger" in which the guitar sounds great, but seems to be in mono.

Stereo Placement
I am starting a new project and would like some suggestions. I am recording tracks that I plan on playing live at coffee houses, and want them to sound very similar (but not exactly) on CD as they will live. I also want the mixes to sound good in their own right, and have been unable to find any commercial examples of the setup I intend to use.

getting good stereo sound, is this a good idea
me and my student friends will be making a movie, however we are under budget, so we cannot afford expensive microphones. We want to try and get the stereo effects, say a car rushing by the camera from left to right. However it is not noticable on a mini dv camera.
converting a signal from MONO into STEREO, please help!
hi guys!
for some reasons, i can only record MONO signals. Now i would wanna convert those signals into STEREO. Is it possible that i could get Virtual Stereo? And, do you know what plugin i should use to do that?
Many thanks.
