Is there a way to get a 8 channel mic preamp and an 8 channel analog summing box in one product? i thought about trying to use a tla audio tube tracker for this would that work?

I would be in seventh heaven if I could procure a rack unit which had the following specs (on each channel):

Insert input: typical unbalanced insert cable (TRS, Tip = Send, Return = Ring)

This seems to be a strange topic in that it has many varying opinions amongst professionals. Anyone here have any specific experience with mixing on a DAW compared to mixing on a DAW using an external summing bus? Like Dangerous 2-Bus or Folcrum?

I have a digital 8bus mackie. I hate the way it sounds. I know the Yamaha dm200 has great features but how does it sound. The Mackie does not have clarity imaging or punch. lifeless another words.
I am trying to choose between going for a better digital console or going out of my computer into a Dangerous 2-bus.

OK, technical time. In another thread regarding summing amp modules, the topic of "passive summing" circuits came up. I have encountered this a few times recently and my lack of electronics education has resulted in major confusion. Can anybody explain the following problem to us non-techies?

With another thread brought up regarding the sh*tty sound in pro-tools...I was left thinking today as I sat at a contol-24 - Playing with the 7k mouse, I started to dwell upon the premise of that the only sound of pro-tools (other that converters and plugs)is the summing math of the software.

Mixerman, I find that your statement " the sound gets smaller the more sounds you put into it" rings a chord in my brain.
The really interesting thing is, lemme see if I can put this into words :)
