Black Lion PM8 summing mixer with Lynx Two A
hey guys,
i just bought a BLA PM8 to use with my 4 in / out lynx card and have a few questions in regards to how I set it up. Given that I have always worked inside the box I never had any experience with consoles.
Would I connect the BLA PM8 only when I am exporting my mix? Would I benefit at all from monitoring from it?
Also..

Summing - What track sounds better to you?
Welcome to our new forum, Track Talk.
I'll kick it off.
The piano isn't the best but the player makes up for it :) I have Sage, my 13 year old playing a few bars of Tarantella for us.
It is the exact same performance, just summed differently. Nice fast attacks for this comparison.
What track do you prefer?

Analog Summing Valid or Voodoo?
I would like to hear what others have to say about analog summing. I'm currently nearing the end of the mixdown stage for a very prestigious Latin project.
We started the mixing on an SSL console, but discovered that ITB (in-the-box) mixing sounded much better after comparison. I mean, many degrees better.

Analog Summing: Inserting Outboard Gear
Here is an quick tutorial for engineers wondering how to expand their DAW systems using external hardware. Fab Dupont demonstrates how to insert analog gear using the Dangerous 2-bus. Keep in mind, this can be done with similar summing systems such as the SPL MixDream, SSL and others.

Summing Schmumming: this is what "hybrid" is all about!
I was mastering a song the other day, and (as happens quite often) I found that the Drawmer 1969 in my rack didn't sound quite as good as a certain plugin compressor I ABed it against. But rather than just go with the plugin and enjoy a faster-than-realtime render, I decided to experiment a little...
Analog Summing plugin (VST)?
Hello experts,
I own a project studio, dont have outboard gear, everything is done from the DAW but I want to incorporate a little of warmth and headroom to the sound of my mixing and tracking. Also, can you give me some recommendations regarding VST analog summing plugins? What options do I have? A friend recommended me the green one from McDSP but it only works in Pro Tools.

Why I think analog summing is bunk.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a very analog guy. I do almost all of my processing OTB. I do think that a console adds a lot to the sound and if the summing circuit has something special about it it would color the sound like any other analog unit.

Automation and Summing OTB
I have been looking for a mixer that covers a need of many of us. I'm talking about using a mixer for its analog summing without just setting the faders to unity and automating in the computer. I have used SSL and AMEK mixers with their own automation engines and recall systems, but we all know how much they cost.

Help with Hybrid DAW Setup 16 channels I/O to analog summing amp back to DAW/ 2 Buss
Man, I thought I had a handle on this but apparently not.
Using Samplitude, Sonar, Cubase, Logic, Reaper whatever... (shouldn't matter what DAW correct)? what do I need to get 16 channels of I/O to a Dangerious 2-Bus or my SPL MixDream and back into my DAW? ( not concerned with cable) just the converter options for now.
