Recording Techniques for Single Violin (non-classical)
Greetings all,
Techniques for reducing sibilance
I am doing voice-over work with a female who has a sibilant voice.
I am using a RODE NT2000 into a MOTU 896HD, utilizing the onboard preamps.
A previous session yielded an amount of sibilance that was hard to get rid of using a de-esser plugin .

Recording Techniques
I have Cakewalk Plasma, Cakewalk Homestudio, Cool Edit Pro 2.0, Wavelab, Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, and Soundforge 5.0 and 6.0. First I would like to know which is the best and some techniques for any of those. Next I just brought a mic that I have hooked to a mixer which is hooked to my computer.

Pink Floyd at Sound Techniques 1967
I was watching the Peter Whitehead film of the Pink Floyd recording at Sound Techniques in Chelsea, curious to see what it revealed about drum microphone placement. It was interesting to see that the drums were miked with one kick drum mic and one overhead mic (which looked like it was sticking right into Nick Mason's face). Nothing on the snare, and only one of the double kicks was miked.

Organ mic techniques
I know this is a huge area, and that no two instruments are the same, so this is one of those how-long-is-a-piece-of-string topics, but I'm curious to know what people's favourite mic techniques for organ are. I know the AKG 426 sounds amazing, but I've heard that some people have achieved great results with a pair of TLM-103s.

2 mics cab Micing techniques ? ( u87 and sm57 ) Dustbro ?
ok i m Micing a 4x12 cab with a sm57 Micing the center of the cone, and read that a u87 at the edge of the cone is quiet good for taking low end as a second mic, but there is my question how far from the cab do i put the u87, in which direction, what type of capture do i choose ?

DRUM recording techniques
Alright so here's my deal. i'm thinking for good sounding kick drum...should i go with a boost of highs in eq and cut in lows and a thin Q sound to get a good punch in bass drum which doesn't rival bass guitar in the mix or should i try cloning the bass drum track eqing one copy really high mid and high for punch and the other copy low end for depth? which technique will sound better ?
