Sun Records/1950's Country recording techniques?
Hi, I'm going to be recording a band that's very influenced by Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, et al, and was looking for some information on the techniques used during a typical recording session from that time.
If anyone has any links or aneCDotes, I sure would appreciate it.

Are we Micing drums wrong with common techniques?
There's a concept at work out there, that if you think about it, makes some sense. At least to me it does.
Batter/Resonant head tuning techniques
I am going to put in a kit, and from years of talking to really great studio drummers, I want to know if their is anything I should consider when assembling the kit and the heads to keep the tuning from going flat on the Batter /resonant head situation. Is their a new material that streches over the indie rI'm to keep it tight? or do I just have to break them in and keep tuning.

Compression techniques and tricks
How important are quality compressors to the mixdown process for rock n roll? I love the subtle ways that a compressor can fool the ear, but I'm far from an expert on some of the tricks of the trade.
Which compression techniques do you find to be the most useful? Are there certain tricks you almost ALWAYS use?
