Minimalism in Recording - How many tracks is enough?
I've been reading some recently about people who are really dissatisfied with the number of tracks people are using nowadays. They say that the art of good mic placement and tracking is lost. Too much close Micing and too many mics. In particular, I'm thinking about drums.
So what's the best way to get 24 tracks out of your daw
ie using it as if it were a 24 track tape machine and hooking it up to an analog mixer.
Normalizing separate tracks before mastering
Hi all, I was wondering about your thoughts on normalizing certain tracks before mastering. What I mean is, though I have some of the equipment, I'm certainly not going to be mastering myself. I don't even want to learn that badly. Really I want to send all my mixes to a professional mastering studio who know what they're doing.

moving individual drum tracks into better phase
Being a drummer myself, I'm always looking for a better way to record drums. The other day I tried recording individual pieces of my drums and then sequencing them in DP3. It came out better than I thought it would. I used an Audix D4 inside the kick (I have Tama Starclassic Maple drums which are awsome) and a tube condenser about 3 ft away.
drum tracks from top engineers .
Yup you heard me, I'm going nuts. I've been trying to conquer drum sounds for years, and every time I get a new opportunity, I just can't seem to get the sounds in my head. And it keeps me up at night thinking about it. Sure some better equipment would help, but I just had a thought.. what if the SOUNDS I was going for individually are "wrong"?

Is naming CD tracks problemmatic?
I've noticed that some new commercial CDs show track titles and others just show track numbers. I'm now wondering if getting your song names to come up in certain players can present problems.

record 10 simultaneous tracks with Gina?
I am running Sonar XL 2.2 with an Echo Gina 24. The Gina only has 2 analog inputs, but it also has 8 tracks of digital I/O via ADAT lightpipe. I have a blackface ADAT connected to the Gina; With a JL Cooper Datasync2, I transfer tracks back and forth between Sonar and the ADAT.

sonar- keeping audio tracks separate
I'm a newbie.. and just trying to lay down some tracks at home with sonarXL. How do I add a new track that doesn't pick up sound from previous tracks. When I add new track with new instrument I hear the previous on the same track.
Don't flame me. I'm new to this .
Thanks for any help that might come my way.

Guitar Tracks 1.02 Help!
My setup: Guitar Tracks 1.02 on Win XP
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Ex
My problem: I have tracks of drums and bass
that I dragged in from a sample CD. When
I go to record my guitar with simultaneous
record/playback, the new track contains
the guitar plus the drum and bass tracks!
Am I doing something wrong?
