Please help! Can't get rid of room noise! Using USB mic

Forums

I bought an MXL USB .006 condenser mic in the hopes of recording voice-over tracks for my animations, and possibly doing some voice-over work. I use a MacBook Pro with Audacity, and the mic is on the "low" setting. No matter what I do, it seems that there is ALWAYS static and noise in the background!

what USB interface to get... from someone new

Hi guys, I'm new to a lot of this stuff and just getting into the world of recording, but i'm really eager to learn and improve my skills.

Basically I record demos in my room, mainly recording bass and guitar. My plan is to start recording guitar/bass parts using SM57s but obviously I need an interface.

Interface between my computer (windows 7, x3 usb) and my mesa boogie single rect.

Hi everyone,

I live in an apartment and need a solution to the following problems: 1. I cannot turn my amp up to the point where I feel I am getting the full tone without being too loud and 2. I want to be able to digitally record to my laptop.

lots of hiss in my recordings, Sonar x1 Alesis 8 usb

hey everyone, I'm using an Alesis multimix 8 usb mixer into my Sonar x1 daw, windows 7. Everytime i record something through the mixer i get a lot of high pitched unwanted noise/hiss. The sound of the instrument (bass) is decent, but i cant seem to get rid of this hiss. any suggestions? any help or comments would be GREATLY appreciated.

Need a new USB interface, can't decide?

I am looking to purchase a new Audio Interface.

Currently, I have a Line 6 POD Studio UX1. It served me well for about 2 years, and it helped me learn a lot about recording, but now it is dying and I am looking to upgrade to something that will give me more control and flexibility.

I was looking at the M-Audio Fast Track 8R and the Mackie ProFX12.

Location recording with a USB condenser microphone - help please?

Forums

First post - go easy on me please :)

I've just bought an iPad (woohoo!).

One of the main things I intend to use it for is on-location recording: found sounds for samples, and for spoken word interviews. I am a complete beginner at this - assume I know nothing and you'll be spot on. My background is in music production using Reason & Record, but I want to branch out.

picking a usb interface for laptop

I need a usb inteface with the following characteristics:

- usb 2.0
- at least one line input (if stereo, better, for synths) with hi-z
- at least one mic input (if it has phantom, and is xlr, better, for a condenser mic)
- a stereo output so as to route all audio when playing live to the FOH console
- it has to be low-budget (I'm in Argentina!)
