I am looking to purchase a new Audio Interface.

Currently, I have a Line 6 POD Studio UX1. It served me well for about 2 years, and it helped me learn a lot about recording, but now it is dying and I am looking to upgrade to something that will give me more control and flexibility.

I was looking at the M-Audio Fast Track 8R and the Mackie ProFX12.

I particularly like the ProFX12 because of course it also a mixer.

Which one would you guys recommend?

Thanks.

What's your budget? How many channels do you need with what mix of microphone and instrument inputs? Do you want a live sound mixer from which you can only record the 2-track mix, or an audio interface that records each track separately for later mixdown? Are you restricted to USB, or does your computer have either a native FireWire port or an expansion slot for a plug-in FireWire interface card?

I have an RME fireface UC, they are very expensive, but amazing for all kinds of reasons! Check it out

Also, I had an edirol ua-101 before, which was a 10 in 10 out USB 2 interface, I really liked the pre's on it, but it died on me a few months back.

And then cheaper still is the focusrite saffire USB 6, which is a 2 in 4 out usb interface, which is quite nice and not very expensive

Good luck
