New equipment for vocal recording, headphone jack has no audio.
Hello there, I just recent bought some new equipment hoping to start recording vocals at home!
I went to my local music store, the clerk there helped me out with selecting some equipment based on my budget and requirements.
I run a desptop with Windows Seven installed ( i also have a laptop with vista installed).
Bad Vocal Recording . Distorted no matter what I do
Using Nuendo 4.3 and an older 3.2 version on Windows XP SP2 OS PC has 3 gig Ram, 720 hard drive speed, AMD Dual chip, EMU 1820m soundcard. No matter what I do my vocals are crappy. Sound great through headphones while recording but listen to the wav and it becomes a monster. No matter how low or how high I set levels it is all the same distorted sound.
vocal + acoustic guitar
I been recording many years and still have never found a great solution to recording a vocalist and acoustic guitar with enough seperation to do any real EQ or processing.
I use two mics with the second mostly providing some body for the guitar.

Best vocal mic under $500
Hey everyone, I've been looking to upgrade from a good to a great vocal mic that doesn't break the bank. I've been wanting a tube mic but I haven't found a good one for under $500. Any suggestions?

All Customary Vocal Polishing Techniques
For hip hop vocals:
Right now I got:
1.Compression
2. EQ
3. Ad libs
4. Reverb
5. Pan
Anything else I'm missing?
Also, does the order matter with Compression and EQ? Is it more advantageous to do 1 before the other?
Thanks A lot

1200-1500$ simple vocal mic and interface. help..
i really like the Apogee Duet 2. i think it has the least feature for what i need and is potentially the most bang for the buck in my prioce range of around 600 - 800 as long as it isn't loaded with crap I'm never ever gona use, i sing, and play acoustic, and do multitrackin, on the fly i wouldnt want more than 2 or 3 inputs. dont need any crazy features.
Vocal compression or processing
I'm not a great vocalist... in fact I'm not even average but I get by. I write my songs, record them and when it comes to doing the vocals, with a bit of reverb and a touch of delay, can usually disguise the worst with a few harmonies thrown in. My Shure SM58 and ART pre-amp between them good enough for my needs.
