Recording Vocals on a mastered beat
Im making a mixed tape, and I'm using other producers mastered beats..what I'm wondering is after recording the vocals and all the other sounds and what nots that I track later. should I compress of or eq the mixdown? It seems to me that this will effect the quality of the beat.

Modern rap vocals
Alright, i know i keep asking about these mics. I just dont want to buy one, and then have to return it.
I'm looking for a mic, to be used for rap vocals. The 2 i have boiled it down to are
the Audio-Technica 4060, and the Soundelux u195.
Which one do you guys sounds more like modern Rap vocals on the radio. That crispy
upfront sound, without harshness?

Recording hip hop vocals
What is a really good way to layout vocals?
Example: lead vocal in mono and record backups in stereo.
record two mono and then pan left and right
or use plugins that move your vocals all over the place to give that surround sound feel.
Basically any tips or tricks?

Mic/Mic Pre choices for vocals
Great site, and please bear with me if as a newbie I ask for info already here. I've done a lot of reading on the site, and have gathered some great info. Just need a final set of opinions to see if I've interpreted everything correctly.

Removing reverb on vocals?
I recorded our jazz-funk band at a gig last week. I took the female vocal input from the Aux 2 send on the PA mixer but didn't realise that it had reverb on it, and it's too wet. Doh.
Do you have any tips on reducing it? I'm using Sonar 4 but any hints would be welcome.
Thanks

Gang Vocals
Does any one know what kind of effects they use for the backup vocals in songs such as Photograph by Def Leppard or any of those 80's songs?
