Starting Recording Acoustic guitar and vocals

I have only recorded once before, with my uncle, who has a very nice home studio. I am vaguely familiar with the whole recording process, and I know some of the stuff involved (but not much).

For a school project, I want to analyze the recording process, mostly by recording.

My uncle suggested that I buy a Zoom MRS 8 and a microphone.

Sheryl Crow Wildflower - Track 10, they got the vocals right

I don't know if this is the right forum for this thread, but here goes.

I'm enjoying the new Sheryl Crow albumn "Wildflower". As usual for her CD's, her vocals tend to sound a bit thin, slightly grainy and a bit reedy.

Certainly a part of that sound is her actual voice, and Sheryl is not known for having a powerful (from the diaphragm) kind of singing tone.

Double Tracking Vocals

Hi,

Has anyone had any experience with this?

When I try going it instead of giving a fuller sound it just kinda sounds like a chorus effect or like a really bad toilet sounding reverb, not like one full voice as on some tunes Ive heard that have double tracked their vocals.

Ive tried dropping the volume on the second track but it doesnt seem to quite to the trick.

Recording Vocals

Hello guys,

There's a problem with the recorded material, it sounds like a hiss, a noise, or something like that, without producing any clues of what's originally recorded, I guess there's something with the settings.. I use a condenser mic and a mic preamp (Behringer Ultragain Mic100), the preamp is connected to a PC. Could you tell me please, how to fix it?
Thanks
