Hi, first post here... Hoping someone can help!
I've been recording my modular synths through my MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid (using usb) Soundcard into a PC using FL Studio's Edison Recorder and I keep getting this annoying hiss sound on my recordings... Same thing if I record my mixer's (Soundcraft EPM8) monitor outs into the soundcard. It's getting very annoying as I don't have cash for more gear and I'm pretty sure the equipment isn't malfunctioning. All I want is a clean sound. Any advice as to how I can go about fixing this issue?

Not a whole lot of info to go on there...but your going to have to isolate and track down which part of your signal chain it's coming from. Synth, mixer/MOTU, FL, Monitors. If you can test each one with headphones or something separately.
Isolate and listen to just your synth's output first. Make sure it is clean and has good output and good from there.
Hiss is usually level mismatch and amplification noise or just plain crappy noisy electronics.
Gain settings are key. Like not enough level going in and then trying to amplify the crap out it.
An easy starting point it's always best to set fader's/output/gain controls to 75% from source to amp/monitors.
Check the output of your MOTU which seems to be the common denominator in your two examples.
