if i lightly touch a key it plays the sample back at full volume. if i hit the key hard it can barely be heard. what is this all about? i checked the setting on the controller (fatar no internal sounds) it has worked fine for years and all of the sudden this happens.
thanks
Is that for all sounds? What you need to determine is if this
Is that for all sounds?
What you need to determine is if this is a controller problem or a problem with the device/vsti recieving the MIDI data.
If you've got some MIDI recording software, record a MIDI track...hit a soft note, then hit a hard note. Using a list editor, look at the velocities for the notes and see if they are correct or reversed. The low velocity note should have a low number. If they are reversed, it's an issue with your controller. I've never come across one that allows you to reverse that but I haven't worked with every controller on the market either.
If the data in the MIDI sequencer is OK, then the problem is with the receiving device. Check to make sure that the velocity response/curve/whatever is set up correctly. This can be set up globally or by individual sound...depending on the device.
