Hello all,
I am considering buying an mbox for my first home pro tools based setup. Basically what I want to do is record audio tracks (guitars, vocals) as well as midi (I have a controller). I will be mostly doing overdubs so I think I'll be fine with only the 2 inputs of the mbox. Here are my questions:
I'm using a PC right now but plan to switch to mac down the road (year or so). Are there any issues I should take into consideration before I buy the mbox now regarding switching later?
Also, I understand PT LE now comes with sampletank, and reason. I am looking to use real sounding samples - will sampletank and reason provide quality sounding samples for use in pro tools?
If there are any other things I should consider now, please let me know.
Thanks a lot to anyone who reads / posts
-Brian

Although Digidesign hasn't come right out and said it, the M-Box will soon be discontinued, so upgrades to that specific piece of hardware will come to a halt when that happens. Upgrades to PT LE will continue, however.
As Blade said, the software that comes with PT LE is LE as well. You will have to pay for the upgrades to get full functionality and sample/sound libraries.

there are no issues I'm aware of regarding using the MBox at a later time on a Mac.
The version of Sampletank you get with the MBox is a light version and doesn't contain the full library you get when you purchase the XL version of the software. Samples are good quality too.
