Hello,
I need to record my keyboard sound into garage band. It is a Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-505. It has a micro usb port, a 1/4" output jack. I tried to get a mono 1/4"- split 1/4" audio cable. The cable was a "grounding cable". It didn't work. What do I need and how do I set it up in GB? I would like the sound to be the sound that I am hearing in my headphone. Is this possible?
Thank you!

Even more question!
So, I have a HOSA cable that is labeled "Tip" and "Ring". Which is which? Also, how do I change to "instrument" setting on the audio box? Also, do I have both the input and output selected in GB with the audio box or just one one? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't know what I'm doing and it would be awesome to record the music I'm making properly!
Thank you soooo much!!

The tip is the left channel, the ring is the right (RRR = ring, right, return). I haven't used your type of interface, but it could be that simply inserting a plug into the jack socket switches it to instrument input. I'm sorry I don't understand your question about "both input and output" being selected in GB.

Obviously, if you are using the Audiobox for input, you need to select that as your input source in GB.
As for the output part... It depends on how you're setup. For simplicity's sake, if you are already equipped to hear audio from your Mac without the Audiobox in the picture, then do not select the Audiobox as the output device, just leave it on the setting that says to use the system setting as the output device.

You need what is called an "insert cable". This has a stereo (TRS) 1/4" jack plug on one end splitting out to a pair of mono (TS) 1/4" jack plugs on the other. Your Presonus 22VSL has two channels that can take 1/4" jack inputs when switched to the "instrument" setting. You plug the stereo jack plug into the headphone out jack on the keyboard, the mono plug labelled "send" into the first channel of the interface and the second mono plug labelled "return" into the other channel.
You can now set up a stereo track in GB assigned to the pair of jack inputs, and you will be able to record your keyboard output in stereo.
