Here's a thing I hope I'm finished with o_O which I'd appreciate comments on.
I know there's a lot going on, I think of this as my anti-Silly Love Songs kinda sorta.

Wow, Chris, that is ridiculously flattering! My head just grew a hat size
I plunk on keyboard a bit, and know my basic chords on acoustic guitar...those are my 'writing tools'. And I'm certainly open to working long distance :).
I like to think my main influences voice wise are (seriously) Bing Crosby, Al Jolson, Paul McCartney, John Denver and Gordon Lightfoot.
You've given me the impetus to start another recording today (y) Thanks again for your crazy kind words... o_O

I had a good laugh !Thanks Freightgod.
The production could be a bit more polish if you'd want to present it to the world, I thought everything was a bit week in the HF exept the drum that came from outerspace..
And the distorted vocal could have a bit of undistorted signal behind it, or at least more bottom..
Keep doing it I like your style !! ;)

pc, I think I know what you mean about the distorted vocal...a little more 'ooomph', to get technical?
After a few hundred listenings there are probably two words I will rerecord on the vocal. And there are a couple drum beats which need replacing with more interesting percussion.
What did you mean about the drum that came from outerspace? Is the ride too brash? More polished how? Performance wise? Or vocal mostly. There are a couple clunker notes, but I was shooting for spontaneous, and the lead is 99% one take. I was happy with how the vocal builds throughout and almost reaches a climax.
Thanks all for the thoughts. Donny, not sure what's up with the streaming?

A note on recording technique. This was the first time I recorded to my Audio Technica AT2035 close miking with the capsule 180 deg (perpendicular) to my mouth. It saved me tons of time editing plosives and poofs...I still was borderline on a couple sung notes but I was really happy with the dynamic range this allowed me to use on the vocal. I could go from whispers to shouting and just rode the volume envelope in the mix. I intend to use this technique more often now. I have typically recorded slightly off axis to the plane of the capsule anyway but I've never gone so extreme before.

Just that it doesn't fit with the song. Sonicly, the rest of the instruments are in a mellow ambiance with a bit weak high frequencies and the drum comes in your face and very bright.

That might be why your vocal lacks hi frequencies. I usually get rid of plosives with a pop filter and enough distance from the mic. (6 to 9 inches)

That's good info. My old ears are not the best judges of frequencies. I tend to overcompensate when eqing or being so afraid of overcompensating that I underdo...
I think I will duplicate my project files, and try a mix with much flatter eq's , to see what younger and better ears make of it.
If the vocals lack high end then it's because I've shelved a lot. I'll see what I can do about that.
I love arranging and editing and mixing, but because of my somewhat poor hearing (eh?) I really wish I could farm out that phase of the mix process.

I haven't remixed this yet, I'm reuploading because I think some people could not get this to play....like Donny, and I am hoping for a little more feedback before I go back into the mix...
I think there might have been an upload glitch the day that I uploaded originally?

I have to say, if I was in the position, and we were closer, I would be hunting you down to work with you. Your voice and texture is as unique as Cat Stevens but better and of course, not in a political POV either. . The world needs a new texture like you have to offer. . You could be that indeed.
Do you play an instrument ? Or, what is your main instrument?
